Mount St.
Helens Institute plans summer activities
The Mount
St. Helens Institute is offering summer activities as part of
the yearlong 30th anniversary of the volcano’s eruption.
Since 2000,
the field seminars have helped educate hundreds of people about
Mount St. Helens. Participants have explored the Pumice Plain,
hiked to the volcano’s summit, and learned about the history of
the eruption and how it changed the land. Seminars are open to
all ages. Youths under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. The
schedule includes “Mount St. Helens’ Elk” on Saturday, July 31,
and “Geology of the Blast Zone” on Saturday, Aug. 7. For a full
schedule and to register, visit

After Dark program offers youth groups the chance to spend the
night in the shadow of Mount St. Helens. It is available May
through October on request and costs $45 per youth. For more

Lane
restrictions resume on I-205 bridge this weekend
Two left
lanes on northbound Interstate 205 (Glenn Jackson) Bridge will
close this weekend as work continues to replace bridge joints.

Oregon and Washington should expect congestion and delays this
weekend.

traffic conditions.
Construction work is suspended, and all four lanes of the
