Brandon Vick files for 18th District run

Brandon Vick

On Thursday, Brandon Vick, candidate for state representative, 18th District, position 1, filed with the Office of the Secretary of State to appear on the ballot for the August 17 primary election. "After entering this race in December of 2009, and meeting thousands of new friends and neighbors, it feels fantastic to officially be in this race," he said Thursday. Vick filed his paperwork online around 10:30 a.m.

"Since starting this campaign, I have been able to learn a great deal about the people who live in this district," he said in a statement he distributed. "The people of the 18th district are yearning for a candidate who stands for liberty, personal responsibility, and common sense.  They understand that our State has been headed in the wrong direction for far too long.  The people of this district are asking for less government, reduced spending, and to have their freedoms protected and restored.  I am absolutely thrilled to be the candidate in this race who has the strength, vision, and energy necessary to fight for these values and properly represent the people of SW Washington."

Castillo files to replace Baird

David Castillo

David Castillo, who began his campaign over a year ago, before incumbent Brian Baird announced his retirement last December, officially filed his candidacy papers with the Secretary of State's office in Olympia today.

"It's time we get beyond the status quo of career politicians driven by blind ambition,” Castillo said in a media release distributed Thursday. “America deserves servant leaders whose sole concern is keeping America the America we all know and love. I look forward to bringing my qualifications and private and public sector experience to the debate," said the first-time candidate.

Castillo, a Lewis County native, currently resides in Olympia with his wife, Callie, and their son.
