Nell Gladson Award-winning content producer Nell Gladson brings her talents to Muller Design Studio in April, where she will work as a writer and consultant. Nell has nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, communication consulting, and television production. Most recently she managed member and consumer marketing communications at Kaiser Permanente Northwest. In addition to the health care industry, Nell has held positions in the higher education and nonprofit sectors. As a television producer at Oregon Public Broadcasting, Nell was honored with a Northwest Regional Emmy® for her work on the documentary "Rose City Remembered: Stories of Lost Portland." She contributed to PBS’s "Newshour with Jim Lehrer," The Learning Channel’s "Neat Stuff," and other national productions. Nell holds a B.A. in Communication from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash.Low-cost training in "emotional intelligence" sponsored by Leadership Clark County
Professional trainer Mark Sills will lead an "exploration" of "leadership and emotional intelligence" May 6, an open event for alumni, current classmates, sponsors and friends of the local leadership training program. The session is Thursday, May 6, from 4:30 to 7:45 p.m. in the sixth-floor hearing room of the county Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. A $10 donation is suggested, although the event itself is free. On-street and garage parking are available, and carpooling is encouraged. Light refreshments will be served. The City and Port of Ridgefield will meet Wednesday, April 28, to develop a unified vision and planning strategy that will guide future downtown revitalization and waterfront development. Right now, downtown has a plan and the waterfront has a plan, but the plans for the two areas are not coordinated. The city and port want to fix that. The community has already done all the technical planning; now actions are needed to implement an integrated plan. The event is 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ridgefield Community Center, 210 N. Free block foam recycling is available
to county residents from 9
a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, in Yellow #1 parking lot at Clark
College, on the west side of Fort Vancouver Way. Foam must be clean
and bagged or boxed. No plastic-wrapped yellow urethane foam, hot
tub covers or packing peanuts will be accepted. Only
Washington-licensed cars may participate.

Starting Friday, Oregon Department of
Transportation plans to close two lanes of the I-205 bridge on
weekends and off-peak weeknight hours. This is to allow contractors
to access 20 bridge joints at the north end that must be replaced.
Closures are expected to continue through May 3.
