Vancouver Symphony reaches goal

Scott Milam

In just over two weeks, the response by concert-goers and local businesses to The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's April "Save the Music" campaign has helped the orchestra surpass its goal of $20,000 by April 30 with eighteen days to go, Interim Executive Director Scott Milam announced this week.

As of April 12, The VSO had received more than $25,000 in donations from 64 music-loving fans and businesses toward preserving the May concert as well as paying musician and staff salaries. The VSO's three newest Young Artists will play with The VSO on May 29 & 30, with each young artist playing the composition that won them the gold medal in their categories

"The reaction from our audience has been extraordinary," Milam said. "While $20,000 was the amount needed for us to maintain our May concert, every dollar contributed now works toward helping us mount a sensational 32nd season starting this October."
