Farmers Market announces spring plans
The 2010 season of the Vancouver Farmers Market opened March 20 with sunny weather, members of the city council, several well-behaved dogs and huge crowds. This week, the market announced some of the new offerings and plans for the spring. The new "Drop and Shop" program features a booth where visitors can leave their heavy purchases. When it's time to leave, shoppers can drive up to the booth to load up their items. The booth is at Esther and Sixth Streets. The Washington State University Master Gardeners will be on hand every first and third Saturdays to answer gardening questions. An Easter egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, in Esther Short Park. On Saturday, April 10, there will be a garden demonstration in the large tent in the dining and entertainment area. A raffle of products available at the Farmers Market is planned for Saturday, April 17. An extensive entertainment lineup is scheduled for the market, including Miles Hewitt and Fading Hail on April 11 and the Shivas on April 24. For more information www.vancouverfarmersmarket.com.
