Community Foundation honors Peterson, Paulettos
Vern Peterson Yesterday, the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington named 2003 First Citizen Vern Peterson as the 2010 Friend of the Foundation. Joe and Teresa Pauletto were named the 2010 Philanthropists of the Year. All three will be honored at the foundation’s annual luncheon at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, at the Hilton Vancouver, Washington. Peterson, who is known to liven up conversations with poems he has written, is recognized for offering his vast knowledge of tax regulation to the foundation, particularly in the area of gift acceptance. He founded the accounting firm Peterson & Associates, P.S., in 1962. His leadership and advocacy have encouraged charitable giving in the community. The Paulettos are appreciated for the long list of organizations they support. They have improved the lives of people at all stages of their lives. The couple has supported, both financially and with their volunteer time, early learning programs. Joe Pauletto served as the president of the 2009 Walk and Knock food drive. The drive brought in a record 162 tons of food. “Joe and Teresa are quiet but devoted charitable leaders who have made a considerable impact on our community,” said foundation president Richard Melching. “The depth of their works is matched only by the size of their hearts.” Tickets for the May 12 luncheon are $50 and are available online at www.cfsww.org. Vancouver Community Survey available online Vancouver residents are invited to participate in an online version of the city of Vancouver’s community survey. Participants are asked about city services as well as for input about how to address challenges facing the community. It contains the same questions asked of residents contacted during a random telephone survey completed this week. The survey is on the city’s Web site, www.cityofvancouver.us. It takes about 10 minutes to finish.
