Sustainability coordinator to
Pete DuBois, a long-time employee of the Clark County Public Works Department, has been named Clark County sustainability coordinator. He was also known for his presentations as Mr. Recycleman, for which he wrote and sang recycling messages for the county’s solid waste program. In his new job, DuBois will implement county efforts to recycle, conserve energy and reduce the environmental impacts of all county programs, according to county administrator Bill Barron. Current county initiatives include investing $2.4 million in solar electricity and water heating systems, creating urban gardens, providing incentives for employee commute trip reduction, and offering new opportunities for recycling in county parks. Barron has also established a Sustainability Advisory Committee to help all county departments support sustainability objectives. A graduate of Williams College, DuBois earned a masters degree in economics from Portland State University.

Viewers may also submit questions by e-mail, either in advance of the program or during the call-in, to looneyt@ci.vancouver.wa.us.
