All C-TRAN buses now running
on 20 percent biodiesel blend

This week Clark County’s transit agency, C-TRAN, completed a switch from 5 percent biodiesel blended fuel to a 20 percent biodiesel blend, further reducing carbon and sulfur dioxide emissions, the main ingredients in greenhouse gases.

The biodiesel program, which began in February, includes one bus that runs on 100 percent biodiesel, making C-TRAN the first transit agency on the west coast to have a revenue-producing bus producing no carbon or sulfur dioxide emissions.

Using federal grants, C-TRAN is upgrading its entire fleet to cleaner fuel burning standards. By next year 12 C-TRAN buses will be equipped with diesel/electric hybrid power.
