Growth management plan Two public hearings being held jointly by the Board of Clark County Commissioners and the county Planning Commission on the proposed update of the county Comprehensive Growth Management Plan are at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, and Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the commissioners’ hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin Street. County commissioners are asking for comments from individuals, property owners and neighborhood groups Tuesday evening and for comments from representatives of cities, school districts, and public agencies and organizations other than neighborhood associations, on Wednesday evening. Expected to be approved by the end of the year, the updated growth plan will be designed to provide guidelines for the county’s growth over the next 20 years. Friends benefits Christmas with Jim Fischer & Friends, a benefit for Friends of the Carpenter and its ministry for the homeless, now in its fourth season, is offering two concerts Saturday, Dec. 2, in the Royal Durst Theatre in the Vancouver School for the Arts and Academics, 3101 Main Street. Pianist Fisher is joined by musicians Letha Brandenburg, Inna Karakuts, Kyra Smith, Sasha Gokhman, Bruce Anderson, Keith Collins, Everett Carlson, Tobaj and David Michael Lee during the two performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Touch of Class Chorus, the Roosevelt Elementary School Ambassador Choir and a Clark College vocal jazz group will also perform. Nutcrackers plentiful The Nutcracker season opens with the Vancouver Dance Theatre’s 30th annual production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the Fort Vancouver Auditorium, 5700 E 18th Street. Artistic director Patrick Russell’s version continues at 7 p.m. through Saturday, Dec. 2. Matinees are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3. Columbia Dance will present five performances of the Nutcracker in the Royal Durst Theatre in the Vancouver School of Arts & Academics, 3101 Main Street, Friday, Dec. 15, through Sunday, Dec. 17. Friday’s performance is at 7 p.m. Saturday’s performances are at 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday performances are at 1 and 5 p.m. Tickets for both productions begin at $12.
