Kevin Miller promoted to
Kevin Miller has been promoted to Clark County area engineer for the southwest division of the Washington State Department of Transportation. The office of area engineer was established earlier this year to beef up transportation project schedules. Miller has been acting area engineer. Miller, a graduate of the University of Idaho, has worked for WSDOT for the past seven years. Prior to becoming acting area engineer, Miller was the assistant area engineer for the Kelso area. Pow wow at Clark College The annual pow wow sponsored by the Title VII Native American Indian Education Program from the Evergreen School District provides viewers with history and entertainment Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Gaiser Student Center at Clark College. Activities that begin at 1 p.m. include educational sessions, storytelling and children’s activities. Nativities
More than 600 nativities will be on display during the three-day Festival of Nativities at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10509 SE 5th Street, Fran Rutherford, volunteer organizer, reports. There is no charge for viewing the nativity scenes that come from throughout the world. “It’s our way of saying Merry Christmas,” Rutherford says. Last year over 4,000 people viewed the colorful religious scenes that will be on display from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, through Saturday, Dec. 2. Live nativity scenes will be performed outside the church at 7 and 8 p.m. Sunday. Handicapped parking and wheel chairs are available. News briefs “The opening of Forever 21, a 7,575-square-foot store at Westfield Vancouver, will expand the mall’s growing appeal to the teen and young adult customer, and will compliment other new stores such as Romy, CJ Banks and Torrid, according to Todd Falduti, Westfield Vancouver General Manager. n Save-A-Lot, the nation’s largest fixed assortment grocery chain, will be opening a store will be opening a 15,000-square-foot store at 7907 NE Highway 99 in Hazel Dell, according to Save-A-Lot president and CEO Bill Shaner. Save-A-Lot stores offer 1,250 of the most frequently purchased grocery items, including fresh meat, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and health and beauty care items. The store will employ between 15 and 20 persons.
