Mountain View High School Wind
Ensemble wins international recognition

The Mountain View High School Wind Ensemble is one of three high school bands that will perform during the three-day Western International Band Clinic at Sea-Tac on Friday, Nov. 17.

The other two bands are from Langley, Va., and Japan.

Mountain View’s high school band co-director Eric Smedsrud said competing bands went through a rigorous competition before being chosen. Band directors and student musicians from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan are participating.

News brief

Klineline Bridge, the highway bridge that carries Highway 99 traffic across Salmon Creek, will remain closed at least through Sunday, Nov. 12, according to Clark County Public Works program manager Carolyn Heniges.

Continued high water is preventing crews from inspecting the base of the bridge, Heniges says. Bridge support piers were strengthened earlier this fall, but the repairs were not considered sufficient to allow use of the bridge during the recent flooding conditions on Salmon Creek.
