Deadline for non-conforming businesses
to obtain home business permits approaches

An ordinance regulating home businesses in rural areas of Clark County requires all such businesses to obtain permits. The deadline for obtaining permits for existing home businesses is Thursday, Sept. 15.

The deadline is particularly important to businesses that exceed current home business standards, according to Gary Pierce, spokesperson for Clark County Permit Services. If current permits are obtained by the deadline, those businesses grandfathered by the new ordinance may be permitted. After the deadline those businesses must meet the newer stricter requirements placed on home businesses, according to Pierce.

With few exceptions the permits for home businesses can be acquired by a one-time $90 fee.

Home businesses that have two or fewer nonresident employees, no equipment and no outside storage, and that are completely inside the home in urban areas are exempt from the home business requirements.

For further information, call Pierce at 397-2375, extension 4286.
