Todd Coleman to represent
ports on
Todd Coleman, deputy executive director for the Port of Vancouver, has been appointed to the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board as a representative from the state’s public port districts. The TIB oversees state investments in local transportation projects, and distributes grant funding to cities and counties for transportation projects. The grant revenue is generated by three cents of the statewide gas tax. Coleman joined the Port of Vancouver in 2001 as director of facilities and was appointed to the position of deputy executive director in July 2005. He is responsible for overseeing all development issues and implementation of the Port’s Strategic Plan. The 21-member TIB board allocated approximately $100 million for capital projects and operating expenses during 2005, including funding for 472 active projects. Local projects receiving TIB funds in 2005 included seven in Vancouver, four in Clark County and another seven in other Southwest Washington cities. Port of Camas-Washougal
likely to form Commissioners at the Port of Camas-Washougal are expected to form a citizens advisory committee to help with the planning of the controversial proposed RiverWalk project, according to port board president Rich Gunderson. Washougal mayor Stacee Sellers says the City of Washougal also feels that a broad representation from the community should be involved in the planning: "We think the port is on the right track using a citizens' advisory committee." RiverWalk is a proposed concept to develop Port of Camas-Washougal Columbia River waterfront into a mixed-use development of retail, office, hotel, residential, park, harbor, and boat storage uses and increased public access to the river. Riverwalk on the Columbia LLC is a development company dedicated to designing a master-planned mixed-use development on the Columbia River. Riverwalk's principals are Marilee Thompson, Rick Bowler, and Mark and Mary Benson. Riverwalk has entered into a two-year option agreement with the Port of Camas-Washougal. The option allows Riverwalk the opportunity to form a joint public-private partnership with the Port, expressly for a master-planned community.
