The $3,000 is being sent to Mercy Corps and the American Red Cross. Meanwhile state attorney general Rob McKenna today encouraged Washington residents to support disaster relief but cautioned contributors to be on the lookout for charity scams, including bogus solicitations by e-mail and phone.
