County extends growth plan
comment period

Clark County will accept public comment through October 2 on a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) that examines alternative locations to meet the projected need for homes and jobs through 2024. Input on the draft will help the county prepare a “preferred alternative” for closer examination in a Final Environmental Impact Statement and public hearings this fall.

Comments should include your name and address, e-mail address and whom you represent. In addition, please note which page and line number(s) you are commenting on. Comments may be mailed to DEIS Comments, Clark County Community Planning, PO Box 9810, Vancouver, WA 98666-9810 or e-mailed to commplan@clark.wa.gov.

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement is available on the Clark County website at www.clark.wa.gov/longrangeplan/review/eis-draft.html. The DEIS can be purchased on CD-Rom for $5 at the Clark Public Service Center, first-floor permit center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver. Reference copies are also available for review at city halls, branch libraries, and sheriff’s precinct offices. A complete list of locations is available online at www.clark.wa.gov/longrangeplan/review/eis-scoping.html by calling (360) 397-2280 ext. 4558.

The Board of Commissioners will prepare the preferred alternative in a work session on October 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Clark County Public Service Center, sixth-floor hearing room, 1300 Franklin Street, Vancouver. This work session, previously scheduled for October 3, was delayed to allow more time for public comment. This is the next step in the process for the Board to consider changes to urban growth boundaries adopted in 2004.
