Dena Horton, former district representative for U.S. Rep. Brian Baird (D-3rd) and the 2003 General George C. Marshall Public Service Leadership Award recipient, has been hired by Normandeau Associates, Inc., as public involvement project manager, reports Karen Ciocia, the company's public involvement manager. Horton most recently was program manager for the Southwest Washington Agency on Aging. She is a current board member of the Clark County Skills Center Foundation, Evergreen High School Dollars for Scholars, and Gonzaga University Alumni Mentoring Program. Horton is a volunteer for Celebrate Freedom/Vancouver National Historic Reserve Trust, secretary of the Clark County Democratic Central Committee, and member of the Downtown Vancouver Rotary Club. A graduate of Gonzaga University, Horton is also a member of the 2003-2004 Leadership Clark County class. She has completed course work toward a masters in public affairs at Washington State University Vancouver. Normandeau Associates, a nationwide public involvement and national resources firm, opened its Vancouver office last May. Clark College Foundation James Farley, Marc Grignon and Karla Rowe have been appointed to the 26-member board of directors of the Clark College Foundation, according to board chair Jan Oliva.
Oliva said the addition of the new board members broadens the foundation’s expertise in the medical and trust fields. Founded in 1973, the Clark College Foundation, with over $63 million in assets, is one of the largest community college foundations in the world. Farley is the health plan administration director for Kaiser Permanente’s regulatory contracting, membership administration and member relations functions. Grignon is senior vice president and manager of Trust & Investment Services at First Independent Bank. Rowe is the administrative director of Women’s/Children’s Services at Southwest Washington Medical Center. Columbia Credit Union Celebrating the completed renovation of its Cascade Park Branch, 131st Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard, Columbia Credit Union is hosting a business social from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8. Singapore Slings and Asian-inspired food are on the menu, and free gifts and prizes will be offered, according to credit union spokesperson Nancy Stickel. Artists will display and sell art projects made from reused or reclaimed materials. Live music is featured from the main stage. There is no charge for the festival, which is sponsored by the Clark County Solid Waste Program. n The Kalama Saturday Market and Antique Street Fair is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in downtown Kalama. Music will be by the Kalama Blues Band and Clay and Friends.
