programs
Leon Winger, Vancouver, has been named local programs manager for the southwest region of the state Department of Transportation, regional administrator Don Wagner announced today. Winger succeeds Bill Pierce, who retired after 31 years service with WSDOT. A graduate of the Oregon Institute of Technology, Winter has worked for WSDOT for the past 16 years. He formerly was area engineer for the Kelso office, where he managed construction projects. Prior to that he had been assistant area engineer for the Columbia River Area Engineering Office. Winger was responsible for the design and construction of the Spirit Lake Highway between Coldwater Lake and Johnston Ridge. Paul Harrison, assistant area engineer for the Kelso office, will be acting Kelso area engineer during the search for Winger’s replacement. Cabinet manufacturer
groundbreaking Sherwood cabinet manufacturer Pacific Crest Cabinetry’s 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, groundbreaking in Ridgefield will double the amount of industrial construction currently underway in the city of 3,300. Pacific Crest Cabinetry will begin construction of a 180,000-square-foot building in the Ridgefield Commerce Center near the I-5 interchange. Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2007. The company is expected to employ 60 production and office workers. Another 180,000 square feet of building construction is just completed, underway or planned shortly by Pacific Power Products, Hinton Development Corp., and Parr Lumber. Ridgefield is said to be the fastest growing city in Clark County, with growth averaging over 20 percent in each of the past two years. The city has 1,000 acres of industrial property to offer and 2,000 lots, according to Mayor Gladys Doriot. According to Doriot, Ridgefield is expected to nearly triple in size in the next five years. People John Cameron, principal of Harvest Capital Advisors, Vancouver, has been appointed to the board of directors of The March of Dimes, Greater Oregon Chapter. Cameron is also chairman of the 2007 Clark County WalkAmerica. WalkAmerica is the largest fundraising event for the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Calendar The C-TRAN board of directors meets in regular session at 5:15 p.m. today in administrative offices, 2425 NE 65th Avenue. The board is expected to approve an interlocal agreement with the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency that would provide for emergency bus mobilization in the event of regional emergencies requiring evacuation or other transportation services.
