Marty Snell to lead new Clark
County planning department

Marty Snell, Clark County’s Long Range Planning Division manager, will become director of the county’s new Planning Department, effective August 1, according to Clark County Commission chairman Marc Boldt.

Richard Carson, director of the Community Development Department, will continue managing the ongoing implementation and application of county policy pertaining to development, construction and safety for specific sites for residential, commercial and industrial uses, Boldt said.

The new Planning Department’s job will be to develop, maintain and update the comprehensive growth management plan and related activities.

“The county’s continuing growth is greatly increasing the demand for services in planning and implementation,” Boldt said. “Placing these functions in separate departments, while maintaining a close working relationship, will allow us to draw on the strengths of staff in both departments.”

County sets Equal Employment
Opportunity Forum for July 12

The Clark County Human Resources Department is accepting comments on a draft of the county’s Equal Employment Opportunity Plan update and will hold a forum to encourage further comments at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, in the 6th floor hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin Street.

Marc Boldt, Clark County Commission chairman, county administrator Bill Barron and Human Resources director Francine Reis will host the Equal Employment Opportunity Forum.

The purpose of the updated EEO plan, to be completed in August, is to ensure full and equal participation of all qualified individuals in the county’s workforce regardless of race, color, religion, creed, sex, marital status, national origin, disability, age, veteran status, on-the-job injury, or sexual orientation, Boldt declared.

A draft of the proposed EEO plan update is posted on the county’s website, http://www.clark.wa.gov/hr/ documents/EEOPUpdate.pdf.
