Marshal’s A recently completed Clark County performance audit of the county Fire Marshal’s Office reports that the county may want to adjust fees for fire inspections. The report, issued by county auditor Greg Kimsey, shows that the county general fund paid for 62 percent of the cost of annual fire inspections during 2005 at a cost to the general fund of $326,000. The audit is part of an ongoing series of performance audits of local governmental agencies conducted by the county Auditor’s Office. The report also recommended that the Fire Marshal’s Office should set up improved inspection schedules, utilize digital technology, analyze data to determine whether re-inspection fees would increase compliance, and analyze data to determine if more on-site follow-up is needed. Kimsey said that the county Department of Community Development, which oversees the Fire Marshal’s Office, is already taking action to implement the recommendations. Southwest Washington Medical
