Steve Stuart campaign kickoff
Tuesday, May 30, at Tommy O’s

Steve Stuart, although a Clark County commissioner for less than two years, is running for that partisan office for a second time, he will be announcing at a campaign kickoff event at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Tommy O’s Restaurant, 801 Washington Street.

Democrat Stuart was appointed to the three-member board of commissioners in December 2004, to fill the unexpired position held by Craig Pridemore, who successfully ran for state senate. In 2005 Stuart stood for election for the final year of Pridemore’s term and went on to beat former state representative Republican Tom Mielke in that race.

This year Stuart is running for a full four-year term on the board. His competition this time is expected to be former Vancouver mayor Bruce Hagensen, who says he will be running for the position as a Republican.

Candidates for local and state elections will officially file during the week of July 24. The primary election is Tuesday, Sept. 19. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 7.
