Port of Kalama marina probably
best implosion watching site

While officials at the Port of Kalama recommend watching the scheduled 7 a.m. Sunday, May 21, implosion of the Trojan nuclear power plant cooling tower on television, visitors to the Port’s marina, a half-mile from downtown, will likely have one of the best live views of downfall of the 499-foot tower.

Kalama is about 30 minutes north of Vancouver on I-5. Visitors to Kalama to see the implosion are asked to park in downtown Kalama and walk to the marina, less than 15 minutes away.

No other areas of the port will be open to the public Sunday.

Motorists using I-5 between Kalama and Longview are warned there will be slowdowns prior to the 7 a.m. detonation. All traffic will be halted between 6:45 a.m. and the time of the implosion.
