Doug Lasher, who has served as Clark County Treasurer for the past 22 years, has announced that he will again be the Democratic candidate for that office this fall. Lasher, a Clark County native, is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College and holds a masters degree in public administration from that institution. Lasher is a past president of the Washington State Association of County Treasurers and is a member of the board of the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers. He is a member of Government Finance Officers Association, Washington Municipal Treasurers Association, Municipal Treasurers Association of the U.S. and Canada, and the Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee of the National Association of Counties. Lasher is a member of the Clark County Housing Review Board, the Chkalov Cultural Exchange Committee and the Clark County Historical Society. During his current term in office, Lasher helped establish the county’s one-stop service center with the county Assessor and county Auditor’s offices. He also implemented the a credit card system for paying property taxes. Vancouver Symphony Orchestra The final performances of the season by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra feature Mahler’s Symphony #1. Concerts are at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, and 7 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in the concert hall in Skyview High School, 1300 NW 139th Street. Music Director Salvador Brotons conducts. Pianist Alex Alguacil performs Brahm’s Piano Concerto #1. Each concert is preceded an hour earlier by a musical discussion with the audience. Day Fort Vancouver Television crews will be taping Mother’s Day greetings from the Vancouver Farmers Market between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, reports FVTV volunteer Ken McCoy. People Janet Gallimore, Vancouver, has been appointed to Women’s History Consortium by Gov. Chris Gregoire. Gallimore is the director of education and community engagement for the Confluence Project. Gallimore is a mentor for Women in Action in Vancouver and for Big Brothers, Big Sisters. The consortium is charged with preserving women's history through the Washington State Historical Society and making recommendations for statewide commemoration of the centennial of the adoption in 1910 of the Fifth Amendment to the Washington Constitution, which guaranteed women's suffrage.
