Idsinga A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, awarded the City of Battle Ground, has been presented to the city’s senior accountant, Ginger Bolivar, by Mayor John Idsinga and the city council. The certificate, given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States, is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to Idsigna. Local peace activist to
present Marion Ward, retired Vancouver accountant who has recently returned from Iran, will present a program and slide show on Iran at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in the Fort Vancouver Regional Library, 1007 E Mill Plain Road. Ward is active with the Fellowship of Reconciliation, Vancouver for Peace and Veterans for Peace. She traveled with the Fellowship of Reconciliation to Tehran, Shiraz, Ifahan and Qom, meeting with religious and community leaders. There is no charge to attend the program sponsored by Vancouver for Peace. Lewis and Clark re-enactors
spending Lewis and Clark re-enactors, retracing the steps of the Corps of Discovery returning to Missouri, will spend three days at Frenchman’s Bar Park, west of Vancouver, Tuesday, March 28, through Thursday, March 30. The group will spend the night of Friday, March 31, at Wintler Park and Saturday, April 1, through Wednesday, April 5, at Captain Clark Park in Washougal. The public is invited to hear stories and presentations by the re-enactors between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. There is no charge. Public works officials to
plant trees Many of the 450 public works professionals from Washington and Oregon who are attending a four-day conference in the Hilton Vancouver Washington at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, will plant 150 native plants and trees at the Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center, 12208 SE Evergreen Highway. The tree-planting project is sponsored by the Washington and the Oregon American Public Works Associations. County convening stormwater advisory group The Clark County Public Works Department will convene a new advisory group to help plan stormwater capital improvements at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, in the sixth floor board room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin Street. Patterned after the county’s Transportation Improvement Program, the new Stormwater Capital Improvement Program will identify priority capital construction projects to manage stormwater, prevent flooding and meet water quality protection requirements. The public panel is expected to meet three more times this year. Seven bands selected for battle Seven bands will compete in the annual Fort Vancouver Regional Library District battle of teen bands beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the Camas Public Library. The sixth annual event is cosponsored by the regional library district, the Camas Public Library and Nettleingham Audio, Vancouver. The competing bands are as follows: Death of Juliet, Battle Ground, MedioCore, Ridgefield, Teddy’s Big Stick, and Westmoor, both of Vancouver, Watershed, Washougal, and Left Lane Ends, and No Association, both of Woodland. meeting in a workshop session will discuss the recently completed
citizens’ survey and the Vancouver National Historical Reserve’s
proposed educational plan. In its formal session at 6 p.m., the council
will discuss its support for a Port of Vancouver proposal requesting a
$10 million grant from the Washington State Community Economic
Revitalization Board Job Development Fund for the port’s West Vancouver
Freight Mobility Access Project.
