Real estate attorney Donald Russo
joins Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt
Donald Russo, real
estate attorney, recently a partner in the Blair, Schaefer, Hutchison & Wolfe
law firm, has joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt as a shareholder in the
Vancouver office.
Russo is a member of the Washington and Oregon State Bar
Associations and the Clark County Bar Association. He is a former member and
past chair of the Vancouver Parks and Recreation Commission and a former adjunct
faculty member at Clark College. He currently assists high school students in
mock trial competitions.
Russo is a graduate of Bradley University and earned a
juris doctor degree from St. Louis University.

of 145 attorneys in offices in Vancouver, Portland, Bend, Salem, Stevenson,
Wash., and Washington, D.C.
Hall of Fame winners announced
by the Vancouver Sunrise Rotary
Sally Schaefer,
former Clark College trustee, member of the Southwest Washington Medical Center
Foundation, and active in many community service related organizations, has been
named a 2005 inductee into the Hall of Fame sponsored by the Rotary Club of
Vancouver Sunrise. Schaefer was honored for community service.
The local Rotary, for the past 17 years, has honored
community leaders with membership in its Hall of Fame and with a rose bush in
its Hall of Fame Rose Garden in Orchards Park north of Fourth Plain Boulevard
just east of the I-205 exit.
Honored in the Arts & Entertainment category was
Salvador Brotons. Born into a musical
family in Barcelona, Spain, Brotons won a Fulbright Scholarship in 1985 and
earned a doctorate in music from Florida State University. In addition to having
been the conductor and music director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra since
1991, Brotons conducts for orchestras worldwide.
Winner in the business category was
Paul Christensen, Vancouver native and
chair of the board of Realvest Corporation. He is the founder and past chair of
the Hough Foundation, supporting the Hough neighborhood. He is also a member of
Identity Clark County, Vancouver National Historic Reserve Trust, Boys and Gils
Clubs of Southwest Washington, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra board and the Center
for the Arts.
Two special memorial awards were announced for two
Vancouver Marines who lost their lives in Iraq. They will be honored in
partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps and by the Portland Royal Rosarians, who
will plant six new rose bushes in the garden honoring fallen veterans of the war
in Iraq who are from Clark County
The marines are Lance Cpl. Cederic Burns, a 2000 graduate
of Prairie High School, who was killed on May 9, 2003, and Staff Sgt. David Ries,
1993 graduate of Evergreen High School, who died Nov. 8, 2004, in Fallujah.
Hall of Fame induction ceremonies are at 6:30 p.m.

Five businesses get top awards
from Vancouver
Business Journal
The Vancouver Business
Journal honored five companies for growth and innovation during an awards
dinner last night in the Heathman Lodge.
LifePort Inc., developers of medical and other
accessories for aircraft, was named Innovator of the Year. Runner-up was Organic
Products Trading Company/Café Feminino Foundation, coffee importers.
Start-Up Company of the Year was When the Shoe Fits, a
retailer of custom fit comfort footwear and orthotics. Second place went to
Techjet Imaging, large-format printing retailer.
Selected as the fastest growing company in the
1-to-5-year category was nLight Photonics, designer and manufacturer of diode
lasers. Runner-up was Northwest Personal Training and Fitness Education, a
personal training and exercise company.
The fastest growing company in the 6-to-10-year category
was a business bank, the Bank of Clark County. The second place award went to
Skyward Construction, a commercial construction company.
Selected for first place in the fastest growing business
category for more than ten years was Wells Fargo, a national bank call center in
Vancouver. The JD White Company, a regional Vancouver-headquartered land-use,
natural resources and public involvement facilitation company, was runner-up.

Following an open house at 5 p.m. to explain changes in
proposed alignments for a new interchange connection Highway 502 (219th Street)
with Interstate 5, the state Department of Transportation at 6 p.m. will open a
public hearing on the matter. The proceedings will be in the DOT southwest
headquarters office, 11018 NE 51st Circle, near NE 112th Avenue and Highway 500.
