MONDAY MARCH 13, 2006 Click here for a clear path home County commissioners to review Clark County commissioners will review the impact of potential expansion of urban growth boundaries on transportation issues during a work session at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, in the Public Service Center. The county staff will preview possible transportation impacts and costs projected under Alternative 2 “2005 Draft Discussion Map,” which is part of an ongoing study of the county Comprehensive Growth Management Plan. ESD 112 reception celebrates A reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, followed by an awards ceremony in Educational Service District offices, 2500 NE 65th Street, will celebrate high school artists, 170 of whose entries competed from 19 schools and 12 school districts in southwest Washington. The top three regional awards for high school artists were won by Lindsey Strecker, Evergreen High School; Justin Miller, Fort Vancouver High School, and Felicia Sieler, Columbia River High School. Their work and the work of 15 others will be entered in statewide competition. The top three ESD 112 awards were won by Austin McCabe, Mountain View High School, Alicia Fillback, Skyview High School, and Brady Stoddard, Mountain View High School. More rumbles and dips on I-5 ACME Concrete Paving Inc., Spokane, has been awarded a $6.8 million contract to strengthen the concrete pavement on I-5 between I-205 on the south and the Lewis River Bridge just south of Woodland. The work of replacing concrete panels and installing dowel bars between panels will begin in the spring. The project also involves grinding ruts in the pavement surface to provide a smoother ride. During the spring and summer project, motorists can expect some daytime and nighttime lane closures in both directions and reduced speed limits in work zones. Restaurant health scores Curious about at which restaurant you might find a glass of wine with lipstick on the rim? The Clark County Health Department is making it easier for restaurant-goers check on the potential cleanliness of the more than 1,500 restaurants and food service establishments in the county by listing food inspection results on line. Depending on the complexity of their food service, food purveyors get one to three, or even more unannounced inspections annually, according to Health Department director John Wiesman. According to Wieman, putting the results of restaurant inspections on the Web will provide added safeguards by encouraging preventive actions by both the food industry and by consumers.
