City creates annexation advisory board

An ad-hock annexation advisory board created by the City of Vancouver will review the city’s proposed 800-acre Burnt Bridge Creek annexation at a 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, meeting in City Hall.

The five-member organization was created by the city to help maneuver through annexation regulations that in the past were reviewed by the State Boundary Review Board of Clark County, which was disbanded by Clark County commissioners in late January.

The five members of the board are as follows: Royce Pollard, mayor of Vancouver; Marc Boldt, chairman of the board of Clark County commissioners; Ron Hart, a resident of the area being considered for annexation, appointed by Pollard; Bob Smith, an annexation area resident, appointed by Boldt and Nancy Ousley, a member of the state trade and economic development board. Hart was chairman of the county boundary review board dismantled by the commissioners.

The former board could have recommended enlarging the proposed annexation.

The Vancouver City Council is expected to approve the Burnt Bridge Creek annexation in April.

The trucking company whose truck load hit the overpass is being billed for the cost of repairs.

The overpass currently is open to two-lane traffic. Repairs are expected to begin in April. Only minor traffic delays are expected during the reconstruction.
