Services Clark and Cowlitz County organizations dealing with mental and social health services are meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Hilton Vancouver Washington, to share plans for the use of a $600,000 grant from the state Department of Social and Health Services, which will be managed by Columbia River Mental Health Services over the next two years. The grant finances a plan called Integrated Services, which will be used to assist people currently receiving general assistance who need mental and physical health assessment and treatment and substance abuse treatment. The goal of the program is to help those persons to work toward recovery and employment. For further information, call Pat Stryker, 993-3049. Clark Public Utilities’ new
hook-ups During 2005 Clark Public Utilities signed up 4,371 new residential electrical customers, according to the year-end financial report shared with utility commissioners today. The 2005 figures showed an annual growth rate of 2.73 percent. The residential growth rate for 2004 was slightly higher, 3.02 percent, when the utility provided new residential service for 4,702 customers. The 2003 annual rate of growth for new residential electrical customers was 2.65 percent, during which the utility added 4,011 new customers. The average residential electric utility customer spent $141.71 for 1,840 kilowatt-hours of power during December. During December 2004, the average residential customer used less electricity, 1,627 kilowatt-hours, and paid $126.02 for the power. The average residential bill in December 2003 was $132.16, for 1,710 kilowatt hours of juice. There has been no change in power rates during this period. Clark College and Marylhurst
University Life-experience credits that can apply to both lower-and upper-division courses at Clark College and Marylhurst University will be discussed during an information session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Penguin Student Union Building at Clark. Clark and Marylhurst have a co-admissions agreement smoothing the way for Clark students to continue higher education studies at the private university in Lake Oswego. Marylhurst’s nationally recognized Prior Learning Assessment program helps adults earn college credit for learning that they have acquired outside the classroom. Up to 45 college credits can be earned toward a bachelor’s degree through prior learning assessment, and an additional 45 credits can be obtained through standardized testing.
