Former Clark College Administrator Bob Moser
getting farewell roast from 'Bob Moser Fan Club'

Bob Moser, who retired earlier this year after 18 years as an elected commissioner for the Port of Vancouver, also had a previous career as a Clark College administrator. The boy from Oklahoma came to Clark in 1960 to serve the college in public relations, alumni affairs, student programs and college advancement.

This evening, the college and its alumni are honoring Moser with a roast and dinner at 6 p.m. in the Student Center in Gaiser Hall. Billing themselves as the Bob Moser Fan Club, the promoters of the dinner promise an evening of fun and surprises.

Admission to the 6 p.m. buffet dinner prepared by the college's award-winning culinary department is      Bob Moser 1964
$25. For further information, call 992-2301.

Leann Johnson named director
For Equity and Diversity at Clark

Leann Johnson has been appointed director for Equity and Diversity, a newly created position at Clark College. Johnson will also serve as a member of the Executive Cabinet and will report to the president of the college on activities related to the campus multicultural committee.

Johnson previously was manager of Cultural Services for the City of Vancouver. There, she designed and managed the Diversity Institute. Prior to joining the city, Johnson had been director of the Office of Intercultural Affairs and Civil Rights for the YWCA of Clark County.

Johnson is a native of Vancouver and a graduate of University of Portland. Johnson received the Val Joshua Racial Justice Award in 1993 and, in 1998, was selected as a Woman of Achievement by the YWCA and Clark College. Johnson is a member of the state Arts Commission and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Gail Robinson receives
Oregon Literary Fellowship

Gail Robinson, Clark College English department faculty member, is a recipient of a 2005 Oregon Literary Fellowship, sponsored by Portland-based Literary Arts.

The fellowship includes a literary nonfiction category award of $500 to help Robinson complete her memoir, with the working title, Into Silence. The memoir describes her family’s struggles with alcoholism, drug addition, and sexual abuse, and the impact on herself and her family of her sister’s suicide at the age of 22.

Running Start informational
session set for Wednesday

Students and parents interested in the Clark College Running Start program, which allows eligible high school juniors and seniors to take classes at Clark College, leading to graduation from high school and Clark at the same time, are urged to attend an informational meeting in the Clark College gymnasium in the O’Connell Sports Center, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Students and faculty will explain the eligibility criteria and the teaching process. For further information, call 992-2842.

New brief

The program offers dental screenings, lunches, nutrition programs, parent education, and early childhood education classes.

Calendar
