Michael Allen Harrison headlines Saturday Chocolate Festival
Michael Allen Harrison,
whose dozens of CD albums include
Expressions of Chocolate,
entertains at the piano at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, during the
third annual Chocolate Festival produced by the Southwest
Washington Medical Center Foundation.
“An absolute
chocolate lover’s paradise,” is how foundation executive
director Lynn Bohart
describes the festival, which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in
the Skyview High School, 1300 NE 139th Street.
The increasingly popular
event is at the top of this weekend’s entertainment list for all
ages.
“Chocolate, according to
studies and contrary to popular belief, does not significantly
contribute to ailments, such as acne, heart disease and tooth
decay,” Bohart says. “A recent review of 66 medical studies
revealed that moderate chocolate consumption could be associated
with reduced risk for cardiovascular disease.”
There will be 65 vendor
booths, and most vendors will be offering free samples of
chocolate, ice cream and confections. In addition, craft and
gift items are offered for sale.
Chocolate vendors, to
drop a few names, are Moonstruck
Chocolate Company, Rose’s
Deli & Bakery, Dagoba
Chocolate, Harry & David,
Bernard Callebaut Chocolate,
Tulucci Chocolate, and
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company.
Adult admission is $6;
children, 14 and under, and seniors, 55 and older, is $3. For

514-1863.
