Downtown library
Sunday
hours shifted by one
Vancouver Community
Library patrons, responding to a survey by the Fort Vancouver
Regional Library district, elected to open the library an hour
earlier on Sunday and to have the library close an hour earlier.
The new hours, effective
Sunday, April 11, will be noon to 8 p.m.
Patrons have suggested
closing the library earlier because of lack of public
transportation late on Sunday.
An average of 1,200
people visit the downtown library on Sunday, about 150 visits an
hour, according to librarian
Doreen Turpin. The library averages 200 patrons an hour
during other days of the week.

2good2toss.com local
cyberspace flea market, garage sale, beats landfill option
Vancouver and Clark
County have joined with other Washington communities and the
state Department of Ecology in sponsoring a website,
2good2toss.com, to provide a place to sell or give away unwanted
but usable stuff that otherwise might be headed to the dump.
The promotional blurb for
the free service states: “Save that still serviceable
refrigerator from the landfill and find it a home. Locate the
wallboard you need to finish your basement. And do it for free!
Think of it as an online garage sale, where the valuable items
are free or low cost.”
