Clark Public Utilities adds new residential customers at a rate
of nearly nine a day
Although the residential
customer growth rate is somewhat slower than that of a year ago,
Clark Public Utilities has been adding nearly nine new
residential customers a day during the first two months of 2004.
More than 4,000 new
residential customers were hooked up to the electric utility in
2003, a rate of growth of about 3 per cent.
It has been a little
slower during the first two months this year. During January the
utility signed up 213 new families. Last month, 323 new
residential customers were added to the system.
Last fall, the utility
predicted an annual residential growth rate of 2 percent. The
actual rate of growth so far is 2.12 percent.

Confluence Project
offers Clark County schools bicentennial art assignments
Schools in five
Washington counties, including Clark County, are being offered
Lewis and Clark Bicentennial art assignments similar to that
undertaken by artist Maya Lin.
Sixth through 12th
graders will be asked to create interpretive art about the
impact of Lewis and Clark on the Northwest.
Up to ten schools will be
selected to receive $5,000 grants to help pay the cost of the
winning art projects, according to Confluence Project executive
director Jane Jacobsen.
Lin, who created the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall in Washington, D.C., has been
commissioned to create commemorative Lewis and Clark art
projects at five locations in Washington, including a pedestrian
bridge over the Lewis and Clark Highway in Vancouver, and a
project at Frenchman’s Bar in Clark County.
