Clark
Public Utilities, working with City of Vancouver,
will extend underground lines
Clark Public
Utilities’ policy of providing the cost of overhead
transmission and distribution lines in the form of
payment to organizations requesting underground
transmission, has been extended to the City of
Vancouver by interlocal agreement to two separate
projects.
Utility
commissioners approved an agreement that will
eliminate overhead distribution in the vicinity of
the city’s downtown Esther Short Park and Hilton
Hotel and conference center areas.
The downtown
project is expected to cost about $500,000, with the
utility contributing up to $100,000 of that cost.
The second
project covers a primary transmission line running
nearly a mile from Highway 14 along the location of
SE 192nd Avenue. Cost of that project is $1.5
million, with the utility providing up to one-third
of the cost. SE 192nd Avenue will connect SE 34th
Street and Highway 14.

Carlson calls for study
of southwest Washington higher education
House Bill
2843, co-sponsored by State Rep.
Bill Fromhold

calling for creation of Cascadia State University in
Bothell, also calls for an Institute for Public
Policy study of higher education needs of southwest
Washington.
State Sen.

who supports the study, says further consideration
of enhancing higher education opportunities for
southwest Washington is called for.
While the
